Bison Kaalamaadan Review: A Deep Dive into Uncharted Wilderness

Original Title: Bison Kaalamaadan

MOVIE

So here I am, supposed to be asleep but I just finished watching this movie, Bison Kaalamaadan, & honestly I'm so pumped up right now I just have to share. I mean - it's like 1am, my eyes are burning from staring at my phone for too long - but this film - damn it was solid. Solid, like really solid, you know? I mean, it was good - like really good - I'm not even kidding. I got so into it, it's like if The Revenant & a Bollywood Kabaddi movie had a baby & that baby grew up on a diet of pure adrenaline & drama. I mean, I'm not even a big fan of sports movies, but this - this was something else.

The plot - the plot was intense fr. This young guy - he's living in this village & there's all this violence going on, like everyday stuff - & he's just trying to make it as a Kabaddi player. I mean, I don't know much about Kabaddi, I watched this after work & was just looking for something to chill with - but man this movie had me on the edge of my seat. The dude's got skills, like he's really got skills - but the violence - it just keeps pulling him back, you know? He's fighting- not just for himself but for his village too - & it's just - it's just so damn inspiring. I mean, I was rooting for him - I was rooting for him so hard. It's like, I wanted him to win - not just the game, but everything. I wanted him to beat the violence, to beat the odds - I wanted him to win at life.

But there were parts that annoyed me tho - like, I loved it, don't get me wrong - but there were parts that were just - I dunno - wierd. Like, there were these random tangents - like, there was this one scene where he's training & then suddenly it cuts to this flashback of his childhood - & I'm like, what's going on here? And then there was this other part where he's playing a game & it's all intense & everything - & then they start playing this song - & it's like, why? Why now? I mean, I get it, it's a Bollywood movie, there's gotta be songs - but this just felt so out of place. It kinda ruined the momentum for me, you know?

But overall - overall I loved it. Yes, there were parts that were annoying, yes there were parts that didn't make sense - but the heart of the movie - the heart of the movie was so strong, so real, it just - it just got to me. The young man's struggle, his fight, his passion - it was all so raw, so human - I couldn't help but feel for him. And the ending - oh man, the ending - I won't spoil it for you, but let's just say it's worth the watch. It's worth staying up till 1am for. It's worth burning your eyes out on your phone screen for. It's worth it, it really is.

So yeah, that's my take on Bison Kaalamaadan. If you're looking for a movie that's gonna make you feel, that's gonna make you think, that's gonna make you root for the underdog - this is it. It's not perfect, it's not without its flaws - but it's real, it's human, it's raw - & that's what makes it worth watching. I mean, it's like life, right? It's messy, it's complicated, it's hard - but it's also beautiful, it's also inspiring, it's also worth it. And that's what Bison Kaalamaadan is - it's life, in all its messy, complicated, beautiful glory. Watch it, you won't regret it. I mean, I didn't. Even if it is 1am & I should prolly be asleep. But hey, what's life without a little adventure, right?
