Original Title: The Family Man
TV
Yo so I was supposed to be asleep but I legit couldn't stop watching The Family Man - ngl, it's that addictive. The story is about this guy, right? Middle-class dude - works for some special cell of the National Investigation Agency - & honestly, I didn't even know that was a thing until I watched this.
So he's trying to protect the nation from terrorists - which is pretty badass if you ask me - but he's also got this family to take care of - & they have no idea what he actually does for a living. It's this weird mix of like, spy thriller & domestic drama - I mean, it's like if James Bond & Modern Family had a baby - & that baby was raised in India.
I gotta say tho, the acting is top-notch - like, every character feels real - even the smaller roles - they all have depth. And you know how sometimes in these kinda shows the family just feels like set dressing? Not here. His wife is a total boss - dealing with her own career & the kids - & she has no idea her husband is out there saving the country - it's crazy.
And the kids - omg the kids - they're adorable & annoying & so real - reminded me of my little cousins, you know? And the troubles they get into - it's hilarious but also kinda heartwrenching - cause you know their dad's out there risking his life & they have no idea.
The action scenes are intense - like, I was on the edge of my seat - I'm not usually into that stuff but damn - they pulled it off. The tension is highkey palpable - & it's not just the action - it's the family drama too - I mean, I was deadass worried about their marriage at one point (tbh still am).
But the thing that really got me was the balance - between the spy stuff & the family stuff - it's hard to pull off but they did it - & it makes you think, right? About work & family & priorities - it's deep.
Oh btw, the show is set in India - & it's so cool to see a different culture - like, I've never been but now I kinda wanna go - the food looked amazing - & the scenery was beautiful - I mean, it's like a travel show on top of everything else.
There were parts that annoyed me tho - like, some of the plot twists were a bit too convenient - & some of the character decisions were questionable - but overall, I loved it. I mean, it's not perfect - nothing is - but it's a solid show - & I can't wait for the next season.
So yeah, I watched The Family Man after work - & I ended up staying up till 1am - it's that good. If you're looking for a show that's exciting & emotional & thought-provoking - this is it. Go watch it - you won't regret it - though be prepared for a lack of sleep - it's that addictive.
Anyway, I need to get some sleep - I have work tomorrow - but I just had to tell someone about this show - it's too good not to share. If you've seen it, let me know what you think - I'd love to hear your thoughts. And if you haven't - what are you waiting for? Go watch it - you can thank me later.
