Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie - A Purr-fect Adventure for Kids: Review

Original Title: Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie

MOVIE

So I was supposed to be asleep but ngl, Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie - A Purr-fect Adventure for Kids had me hooked - it was like if Toy Story & Alice in Wonderland had a baby & that baby watched too much Peppa Pig & Paw Patrol. I mean, I literally just finished watching it on my phone - & my eyes are burning - but I gotta spill the tea.

The plot was lit - Gabby going on a road trip with her Grandma Gigi - kinda wierd but cool - & they end up in this urban wonderland called Cat Francisco which is like San Francisco but for cats - right? But then - plot twist - Gabby's dollhouse ends up with this eccentric cat lady, Vera - who's lowkey creepy tbh - & Gabby's gotta save the dollhouse & get the Gabby Cats back together - like a feline version of the Avengers lol. It was good, like really good, I mean damn it was solid.

But here's the thing tho - I loved it... well actually parts of it annoyed me but overall yeah I loved it. The animation was dope - vibrant colors, smooth textures - made the entire thing pop off the screen. The characters were lively & fun - Gabby was a total badass & Grandma Gigi was just a riot - but Vera, man, she was something else. I deadass didn't know whether to laugh at her or be scared - she was like a cat-loving version of Ursula from The Little Mermaid. It was all pretty damn awesome - but like, there were some things that kinda bugged me.

Some parts of the story were just too predictable - like I could tell what was gonna happen before it even occured. It's a kids movie, so I get it - but I wish they'd thrown in some unexpected twists or something. But then again, the predictability didn't really ruin the experience - it was still fun to watch - you know?

(Oh btw this reminded me of when I watched Toy Story as a kid - I used to be obsessed with that movie - I even had my own Buzz Lightyear action figure - good times.)

Another thing that bugged me - but this is more a personal thing - was the music. It was too poppy for my taste - I prefer more instrumental scores - but it matched the vibe of the movie so I can't really complain. And the voice acting - it was decent but sometimes it felt like they were trying too hard - like they were overacting - I dunno, maybe that's just me.

But overall, Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie - A Purr-fect Adventure for Kids was a fun watch - I mean, it's basically a cute, colorful adventure that's perfect for kids - but also enjoyable for adults too - if you're into animated movies that is. I'd say it's worth a watch - even if you're not a fan of the show - it's a good standalone movie - & it might even turn you into a fan - who knows?

(Side note - my roommate hated it - said it was too childish - but what does he know? He thinks The Godfather is boring - so his opinion doesn't count.)

I'm gonna go to bed now - it's like 1am & I've got work tomorrow - but I just had to share this with you. If you've got kids - or if you're just a kid at heart - give Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie - A Purr-fect Adventure for Kids a shot - I promise you won't regret it - fr fr.
