Original Title: Predator: Badlands
MOVIE
So bro, ngl, it's like 1am & I just finished watching this wierd-ass movie - Predator: Badlands, & I'm supposed to be asleep but I'm too hyped up to even think about bed. My roomie recommended this & honestly, wasn't expecting much, but damn, it was good - like really good - I mean damn it was solid.
So the plot is kinda out there - a young Predator getting kicked out from his crew - like literally cast out & then - get this - he becomes buddies with a screwed up android. It's like if The Terminator & E.T. had a baby & that baby watched too much TikTok - you know? I mean, on paper it sounds like a total mess, right? But it works - deadass.
They go on this mad journey to find the "ultimate adversary" - whatever that means. The whole thing is like one long, wild ride - one minute they're in a jungle, next they're in some high-tech alien city. It's all over the place, but in a good way - like a rollercoaster of action & suspense. It's not just mindless action tho - there's some solid character development too. Like, the Predator dude becomes kinda relatable - like you actually start feeling for him - which is wierd, but it works. The android is cool too - kinda like a robotic Han Solo - so that's a plus.
The action scenes tho - damn, they were intense. Like, I was literally on the edge of my seat the whole time. It's not just the fights - it's the way they're shot. The camera angles, the slow-mo, the close-ups - it's like a ballet of violence. I mean, I'm not usually into that kind of stuff, but it was done so well, I couldn't help but be impressed.
I gotta admit, some parts were a bit confusing. Like, there's this subplot about the Predator's past that didn't really make sense - like they tried to squeeze in too much backstory & it just got muddled. But tbh, it didn't really detract from the overall experience.
Oh, & the ending - don't even get me started. It was so unexpected, but in a good way. Like, I didn't see it coming at all, but when it happened, it felt right - like it was the only way it could've ended.
So overall, I gotta say - I loved it. Well, actually parts of it annoyed me, like the confusing subplot & some of the dialogue was kinda cheesy. But overall yeah, I loved it. It's not perfect, but it's a hell of a ride - gonna recomend it to everyone I know.
Btw, this movie totally reminded me of when I watched Predator as a kid - like, it has that same sense of thrill & excitement. It's like a love letter to action cinema - & I'm here for it.
Anyway, that's all I got. I'm gonna try to get some sleep now - even though I'm still buzzing from the adrenaline. If you haven't seen it yet, you should - it's worth it.
Oh, & one more thing - don't watch it with your ex. It might remind you of them somehow lol.
