Original Title: Dhurandhar
MOVIE
Bruh, ngl, I was supposed to be asleep but then I decided to watch Dhurandhar after my annoying little brother recommended it & honestly - I'm shook. This movie is like if Mission Impossible & Dangal had a wild child & that child was reared on heavy doses of patriotism and Bollywood masala. I mean, it's wild tho - in the best way possible - I'm talking espionage, action, drama, the works. It was good, like really good, I mean damn it was solid - & I'm not usually into this stuff but this got me hooked.
Lowkey, the plot was a bit convoluted - I mean there was a lot going on - hijacking, Parliament attack, terrorist network, underworld mafia - it was a bit much but surprisingly, it didn't feel like too much. The pacing was on point & the storyline flowed pretty seamlessly - like you'd think with all these elements it'd be a hot mess but it worked - it definately worked.
The acting - oh man, the acting was fire. The lead, Ajay Sanyal - the Intelligence Bureau Chief - dude was deadass amazing. His intensity, his dedication - it was palpable - you could literally feel it through the screen. It kinda reminded of my ex's intensity though lol - always so focused & serious - I mean, it's a movie, not a warzone - chill. But then again, it is a warzone in the movie so I guess it makes sense.
On a side note - the action sequences were crazy good - like highkey, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. It was almost like watching a Hollywood blockbuster - but with a desi twist - you know? Like, I'm gonna be honest, I was expecting some over the top, unrealistic stunts but these were legit - it was a pleasant surprise.
I loved it... well actually parts of it annoyed me - like the unnecessary romantic subplot - I mean, we get it, the guy's got feelings but can we just stick to the action please? But overall yeah, I loved it. It's not perfect, definitely has it's flaws, but it's entertaining as hell & that's what matters right?
Also, can we just talk about the cinematography for a sec? It was stunning - like literally, I felt like I was there - in the middle of all the action - it was so immersive. The locations, the sets, the camera work - everything was on point.
In conclusion, Dhurandhar is a wild ride - it's a bit over the top, a bit dramatic, but it's fun & engaging - & at the end of the day, that's what you want from a movie right? It's not the best movie ever, but it's worth a watch - definitely worth losing sleep over.
Dhurandhar Movie Review: A Powerhouse of Indian Cinema Unleashed - I'd give it an 8/10. Might watch it again with my roommate - he's gonna hate it, but he can deal with it.
