Original Title: Kaisi Ye Paheli
MOVIE
Dude, so I was supposed to be asleep but nah - just finished watching Kaisi Ye Paheli Revealed & I gotta say - its like if Murder on the Orient Express & Sherlock had a baby & that baby was raised in the hills of India - wierd combo right? But honestly - it kinda works - lowkey even.
The movie starts off slow - I mean, I was watching this after work & prolly was too tired to fully get into it - but then things start to get intense. The murder mystery angle is pretty solid - not gonna lie - and the whole setup in the hill town gives it this eerie vibe which I totally dug. The cinematography is top-notch - the hills, the fog, the old houses, it all adds to the suspense.
Now, the lead actress - she's supposed to be a lonely mother turned detective & she nails it. I mean, she literally carries the whole movie on her shoulders. The way she dives into the mystery, it's fascinating to watch - made me wish I was a detective too, tbh. And her estranged son, the cop - dude's got some serious acting chops.
But then, the pacing - oh man, the pacing is all over the place. One minute you're on the edge of your seat & the next you're like - can we move on? Some scenes felt dragged, like they were just there to fill up the runtime. The climax though - it's worth the wait. Did not see that coming - like seriously, did not. The twist is good, like really good, I mean damn it was solid.
(oh btw this reminded me of when I watched Gone Girl - same kind of unexpected twists & turns - only this has an Indian flavour to it)
The soundtrack is another thing worth mentioning. It complements the story so well, it's like an extra character in the movie. The songs though, felt a bit out of place - I mean, this is a murder mystery, not a Bollywood romance - but they're catchy so I ain't complaining too much.
The ending tho - I have mixed feelings about it. It's satisfying & frustrating at the same time. Like, I wanted to know more about what happens next, you know? But I guess that's the point - to leave you wanting more.
So, overall - I loved it... well actually parts of it annoyed me but overall yeah I loved it. Definately worth a watch. Just be patient with the pacing & you'll enjoy it. And hey, if you're into murder mysteries & Indian cinema, this is a must-watch. Highkey recommend it.
(side note - watched this alone cause my roommate hates mysteries - he's missing out tho)
Alright, I should prolly go to bed now. Let me know if you watch it - wanna know your thoughts too.
